I was 4 years old and remember going with some of my family members to visit a man in New Haven, CT by the name of "Sid Juan", which means Uncle John in Italian.
If someone had an ailment or pain, he would go into some sort of centering or meditation reciting some words, looking upward and moving his hands around the person, sometimes finishing by touching the forehead.
He seemed to be pulling healing energy from a universal energy or a higher power. This was my first exposure to the ancient healing modality called "the laying on of the hands", now know as "Therapeutic Touch".
Throughout the years, I married and raised 3 children. But my thoughts frequently went back to the experience I had when very young watching "Sid Juan".
I ontinued to be mystified with thoughts of what he could do
to help heal others.
One morning one of my daughters could barely get
out of bed. After a visit to the doctor, she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and had to wear a knee brace, a
back brace and a neck brace.
I was devastated and kept thinking of the technique "Sid Juan" used.
As an answer to my prayers, I saw a notice in the newspaper for classes in Therapeutic Touch Therapy, stating the modality was taken from the ancient modality of "the laying on of the hands". I immediately called and registered and continued to learn everything there was about this mystifying healing technique. Sometimes I would go to locations for weekends
to work with people and to learn more. I continued until I was trained as
a Therapeutic Touch instructor and have been teaching this healing
modality for the past 18 years. I began using it on my daughter and in a matter of 6 weeks she took off her knee brace, her back brace and neck brace. If I was physically not present, I would do what we call "long distance Therapeutic Touch".
Because I have a great compassion for human suffering, I then vowed I would
teach others this healing modality so they could help themselves
as well as others. On January 10, 2003, I received my instructor certificate for the art and science
in Crystalotherapy at the Crystal Awareness
Institute in Sunol, California from
DaEl Walker, teacher and lecturer in
the field of using crystals as an aid to healing.
At times I find it beneficial
to use certain crystals when administering Therapeutic Touch.
